A minor actress but major Hollywood celebrity, ZSA ZSA GABOR (1917-2016) was Miss Hungary in 1936. She moved to the United States just like her sisters Eva and Magda. Zsa Zsa made her film debut in Lovely to Look At in 1952, the year she gave a well-received performance in Moulin Rouge. She starred in the cult favorite Queen of Outer Space (1958) as well as other features. On television, she's best known as a frequent guest on The Hollywood Squares (1966-1975). She was a popular figure on the talk show circuit, making numerous appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and The Late Show with David Letterman. Known for her trademark "dahlink", she also made frequent headlines with nine marriages, politically incorrect furs, and spats with the police. Her husbands included hotelier Conrad Hilton (1942-1947), actors George Sanders (1949-1954), Jack Ryan (1976-1982), and Felipe de Alba (1983, annulled), and German Frdric von Anhalt (1986-present), who purchased the title of Prince Frederic of Anhalt via an adoption. Television and film actress BETTY WHITE is best known for her Emmy Award-winning role as grief counselor Rose Nylund, which she played on four different TV sitcoms: The Golden Girls (1985-1992), Golden Palace (1992-1993), Nurses (1991; guest appearance) and Empty Nest (1989, 1991, 1992; guest appearances). White was also a regular on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1973-1977), playing Sue Ann Nivens, a regular panelist on Password (1961-1975), on which she met her husband, host Allen Ludden, and she starred in shows of her own: The Betty White Show (1957-1958 and 1977) and The Pet Set (1971). The popular actress has appeared in several feature films, a number of TV movies and a long list of TV series and game shows. DEIDRE HALL (born in 1947) is best known for her role as Dr. Marlena Evans (1976-1987, 1991-present) on NBC's daytime soap, Days of Our Lives. She has won five Best Actress awards from "Soap Opera Digest" for the role, which she created in 1976. Hall broke new ground for soap stars when she appeared on such TV talk (The Tonight Show) and news shows (20/20). She has also had regular roles on Emergency! (1972), The Young and the Restless and Our House, and Hall has made a number of made-for-TV movies, including Never Say Never: The Deidre Hall Story (1995), and appeared as a guest star on a long list of TV series since 1970. Stage, screen and television actress LOIS NETTLETON (born in 1929) made her Broadway debut in 1949, and she would be nominated for the 1976 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Play) for They Knew What They Wanted. Nettleton also appeared off-Broadway with her husband of seven years (1961-1967), disc jockey and writer Jean Shepherd, in his play, Look Charlie (1959). Nettleton had "met" Shepherd as the first caller on his radio talk show, and their frequent conversations were a popular staple of the program. She made her "official" film debut in 1962 (Period of Adjustment), but Nettleton a previously played a bit part in A Face in the Crowd (1957). Although she appeared in a number of feature films, Nettleton is best known for her television work, which includes made-for-TV movies, miniseries, regular roles on such series as The Brighter Day (1954-1957), All That Glitters (1977), You Can't Take It With You (1987-1988), In the Heat of the Night (Joanne St. John, 1989-1990) and General Hospital (Virginia Benson, 1996-1998), and guest starring roles on a long list of TV series, from Man Against Crime (1953) to Crossing Jordan (2001).
