Description: WW2 British RAF Royal Air Force Lancaster Bomber Direction Finding Indicator Genuine period RAF DF (Direction Finding) Indicator as used in RAF bombers such as the Avro Lancaster during the Second World War. The DF indicator was used in accorance with the R1155 radio system to guide aircraft via a signal from a ground transmitter. The L and R indicators move in relation to the ground transmitter, once both indicatators are vertical the aircraft is on course for the transmitter. The DF Indicator can be seen as no 2 in the diagram of the Lancaster instruments in my images. The DF Indicator is in overall good original condition and include a box. Text present to gauge reads: Ref No.10Q/2 (Air Ministry Referance number) to the front, AM (Air Ministry) stamp and crown to the rear and SW-R-44 stamp to the side 44 denoting the date 1944.
