Description: This gorgeous vintage 1970's necklace is a total of 42" long with a 21" drop, fluid drape and is in excellent vintage condition. It's strung with 29 large hand carved, thick turquoise slabs with hand rolled olive shell heishi beads. It has no clasp and is strung on strong cord. The turquoise ranges in color from bright turquoise to a greenish blue turquoise. My camera doesn't capture blue and green very well and the beads are more turquoise than blue.I do not know where the turquoise was mined, but it has wonderful color and matrix. 29 large slabs of turquoise graduating from 1" - 1 1/2" long. You can tell if heishi beads are hand rolled by running your fingers down them. If they are not uniformly smooth then they are hand rolled, which is a labor intensive method that takes much skill. Fabulous statement piece purchased by my grandmother on the Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico, during the 1970's. It is now called the Kewa Pueblo. I'm beginning to downsize so please check back for new listings weekly. I'm not a dealer and all of my items have always been in a non-smoking home and well cared for. I'm a decorator who has collected and inherited some very nice things. Thanks This will be sent priority USPS mail. I will cover the cost of having it fully insured.
