Description: Offered item is a vintage, collectible, “Made in Occupied Japan” (“MIOJ”) diecast, chrome yacht cigarette lighter. Original family ownership. CONDITION: VERY GOOD +. The lighter is removable from the main yacht’s frame / body and represents the yacht’s smokestack. The lighter's chrome is bright, shiny with no tarnishing, pitting, or blemishing. Measurements: Length: 5.0”; Beam Width: 1.0” to 1.5”; Height: 1.75” (includes lighter). The lighter is not working. The lighter has no spark. The thumb release button is functional, opens when depressed and closes fine. The lighter’s metal fluid cap is included. Parents acquired the lighter in the late 1940’s. They were non-smokers, so it was seldom used. Was always placed either on a living room wall shelf or coffee table. Many lighters were made and marked “Made in Occupied Japan” during the United States military’s occupation of post WWII Japan. “Occupied Japan” (OJ) is a term used for the period August 14, 1945 (Japan’s Surrender Date) through the official end of Occupation on April 28, 1952.
