Description: For those who thrive on the wildest, gnarliest noise from the Japanese underground, Baron Elmo has a rare treat for you, courtesy of racket-maker extraordinaire VIOLENT ONSEN GEISHA: U.S. Tour '95, released in 1996 by the Japan Overseas label, now long out of print. The Tokyo-based experimental musician Masaya Nakahara, more commonly known as Violent Onsen Geisha, turned heads with his entirely singular approach to sound. Starting in 1989, our man harnessing his unique natural approach by combining his noise with techno, pop samples and hip hop, as well as his sister's karaoke singing, his parent quarreling, speaker-blowing screams and objects broken. No contest, Violent Onsen Geisha are by far the funniest of all the Japanese noisemeisters. For this CD, the Geisha hooks up with three different denizens of the U.S. underground, one for each of its three tracks: long-running northwestern experimental unit SMEGMA, San Diego post-punkers TRUMANS WATER and Sonic Youth frontman THURSTON MOORE. It's a wondrous racket that explodes with ideas, with all present clearly having a wonderful time. This CD is in beautiful, near-mint shape. Track listing 1.
