Vintage Stereo Egg Chair Mid Century Modern Original Fiberglass Audio Egg Chair

Description: Stereo Egg Chair All original! One owner Excellent condition! Working speakers! Not a reproduction or replica modern take. This Stereo Egg Chair is very rare to find this chair is in original unrestored / unaltered condition. This Egg Stereo Chair was a Christmas gift to my mother from my father back in the early 70s (home movies to prove it) and has been well kept and is perfectly functioning as is. The original speakers are functioning well and deliver a clear audio experience. Interior: All original upholstery. The contoured back and armrest cushion curves around you as you sit and cradles you in dark comfort. Both the back cushion and round seat cushion are original and in excellent condition. The black fur covers zip off for ease of cleaning (zippers are all intact (some rust on the seat cushion one) but not tested). The whole interior is covered in the same original black faux fur, no loose areas or hang. The fur wraps around the opening of the chair, there is some fading and small worn areas on the edges of the upholstery. The fur pieces around the edge of the speakers are missing. Chair was equipped with a built-in overhead light- this funtionality is untested -the white cone shaped plastic lamp shade is missing. Both interior side speakers are original and working. Each are equipt with a volume turn knob on the bottom of each speaker. Chair swivels 360 (*caution* when wires to a stereo are connected). Exterior: White fiberglass shell is in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips, only some very minor scuffs/light scratches. High glossy white fiberglass. There is a groove (seam) down the middle of the outside of the chair. Chair sits in base on a post. There are audio speaker wire hook ups on the bottom panel of the chair and the remains of a cut wire (for the interior light which is also missing). The silver aluminum base foot has some light oxidation, scratches and/or minor pitting. Matching footrest is long lost. 55" tall x 36" wide x 33" deep Excellent vintage condition. I was 2 when my father gave this to my mother as a gift. I waited so very long for this to be mine and enjoyed it on my parents house until two years ago when I drove out to my apartment on NYC- but now we are moving abroad and no longer have a space for it. Currently works as a wired surround sound speaker system. It could easily be converted to wireless Bluetooth update. This chair is a must for any Space-Age decor. Mix it in with some Atomic-Age or other Mid Century Modern furniture for a great retro look. When you sit inside, its not just another chair, its an experience.
