Description: Vintage mid-century modern Robert C. Fritz studio art glass vase. Although this vase is abstract/freeform, I describe it as biomorphic because it appears to have been inspired by the female breast (others have mentioned this to me, as well). The vase has areas of iridescent satin finish punctuated with smooth glass protrusions, as pictured. It is signed by the artist on the base: "FRITZ". Vase measures approximately 8” tall by 19-1/4” in circumference at its widest point. Rough and unfinished pontil mark. The presence of a pontil suggests that this piece was blown freehand. Very good condition with some roughness around the pontil, as mentioned, and some minor scratches consistent with age and use. I have attempted to show the most egregious of these scratches in the last two accompanying photographs. Robert C. Fritz (1920 – 1986) was an American ceramics and glass artist and professor in California. As a major player in America’s mid 20th century studio glass movement, Dr. Robert Fritz is remembered for his contributions to the world of art. His glass art masterpieces can be found in the Smithsonian, Renwick Gallery and the private collections of Ted Kennedy, Tom Harkin, Ron Wyden and more throughout the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Please see photos, although the pictures truly do not do this vase justice. Ships with FedEx Home Delivery. Thank you for looking.
