Reserved! Vintage EXCELLENT 40s STACK (BorsalinoStetson) Beaver Twenty 7-3/8

Description: This GREAT Late 1940s True Vintage STACK (Borsalino? Stetson?) Beaver Twenty - Color is Bone (Stetson’s called this Palomino we believe) Fedora, size 7-3/8++ to 7-1/2, read below. Every once in a great while we run across an OUTSTANDING HAT! This is one of them!Found stored in that 1930-1940s AL ROMER heavy, thick hat box. This barely fits inside. Inside the hat box we found what we believe is the Original Feather set, still in good condition, see picture and that Borsalino “O.P.S. Sec.43.CPR7 $20” tag but we aren’t certain it actually belongs to this hat? The actual size tag does NOT look like a Borsalino size tag but the price is what this hat would have cost. Does anyone recognize that tag? And who made this great hat? We are stumped!We know that it was sold at TULLY’S, located in Omaha, at 5TH & DOUGLAS! TULLY’S was a very high end store and this was a very expensive hat at that time period!Also the rectangular impressions on the underside, right in front of the leather sweatband we have only seen on another 1940s Borsalino Fedora. So it’s another indication that this maybe a Borsalino manufactured hat? So you can see a bit of minor wear beside those rectangles on the leather sweatband, this is because the hat was sitting on a wooden shelf and NOT turned upside down so it sits on the crown (the proper way to lay a hat down). The leather sweatband is COMPLETELY and SECURELY ATTACHED all the way around! We lifted it up and took a picture so you can see that it’s just as we described! This is a VINTAGE Beaver Twenty and It’s nothing like what you would compare to any newer hat! It’s just very soft and thick beaver, soft and thick and so easy to shape! This is currently in a “Center Dent” shape and so easily “Hand-Bashed” to any shape you desire! But if you wanted a particular shape steamed into this OUTSTANDING hat just write to us and we will get that done, after you’ve PURCHASED the hat. We have had a couple of folks who asked to have a hat shaped before buying it and after all the work put into shaping the hat they decided to send such a low offer that we will no longer shape the hat before it’s sold. Apologies but it does take time to shape it and then when it’s not purchased then it has to be reshaped. But we can “Hand Bash” it and send you pictures of the hand bashing and if you decide to buy the hat we will steam the shape in if you approve and buy the hat. If you have a picture of what you’d like please send that to us and we will try and make an exact duplicate of it. When completed we will send you a picture before it is shipped. The brim can be turned up or down, as you may like it? We can steam that shape into the hat, just write and ask. This style fedora can be seen in all those 1940s and 1950s Movies! Favorites of those Great Movie Stars. You’ve seen this style hat in so many old movies! My Grandson says he’s seen it in that “BORSALINO” movie. Now Dad and I will need to watch that one! The color is not SilverBelly but more of the Stetson “Palomino” color or Bone color. The picture of the whole underside reflects the actual dark black color. Dating was easy to the 1940s! This has a SILK liner (this is a silk liner not satin, you can just touch it and feel the difference) with the “Onion Skin” type liner cover liner as opposed to the thin plastic overlay started in the 1950s. You can see the liner is still very clean and that thin thin plastic sweat protective liner going around the inside of the leather sweatband is still there in very perfect (NOT BROKEN) condition. Dad and Grandson steamed shaped a bit of a tune up, currently has been shaped into a Center Dent crown fedora because that Beaver Twenty is so easy to work with! Pictures say much more about this great HAT! We took all angles and this is also part of the description. If you have any questions please write to us. The beaver is EXTREMELY soft and thick. NOTE: the AL ROMER Oval hat box is still in Excellent condition! This is NOT a thin cardboard box! It’s a heavy duty one! Just like you’d expect from the 1930s-1940s! If you are familiar with the older 1940s Stetson oval hat boxes and know how thick and heavy they are, this is that same heavy cardboard stock! It has no complete hat holding insert set, just the outside ring was found inside. The hat barely fits inside see picture. That hat box is large and does cost a few more dollars to ship. There will be NO option on this sale for NO hat box! Dad says these have been together for so many years he wants them to stay together! NOTE Shipping outside of the Continental USA is WITH the hat box, it’s a bit more expensive to ship. So there is a size tag that states “7-3/8” but back then there was NO hat sizing standardization. So we measure each hat 3 times to verify its actual size. This measure right between the 2 sizes. This measures 23-5/16 inches. A perfect 7-3/8 measures 23-1/8 inches and a perfect 7-1/2 measures to 23-1/2 inches. This could easily be stretched to a size 7-1/2. Many of Dad’s hat buyers are using that $15 Amazon Hat stretcher getting Excellent results. It just takes time and patience. Dad always applies Glove oil before stretching a hat. Apply Glove oil, allow it to absorb and dry, repeat, apply Glove Oil and allow to dry. The start the stretching process. It can take from a couple of days to a couple of weeks to get the stretch to remain in the leather sweatband’s memory. When we measured it with the hat reducers installed it was still a fraction over a perfect 7-3/8 so you may need a bit heavier felt strips but this will get you started. Ok now the particulars So we always measure each hat 3 times, using different methods to verify the actual size. We use the Tilley hat size chart. This chart is still in use today.
