French born he began his journey by training under Cartier. He immigrated to New York in the 1920’s. He became a designer for Mazer Brothers (Mazer Costume Company), known for their high quality jewelry during the 1930’s. In 1937 he decided to start his own company and called it Marcel Boucher and Cie.His designs became world recognized for his use of rhinestones and semi precious stones and mixed metals. Each design was numbered. After his death in 1965, his wife Sandra Boucher (also a jewelry designer) continued until 1972 when the company was sold.Boucher and numbered pieces are most desirable in collectible costume jewelry.
