Description: These two pieces of original art by Hisashi Otsuka were purchased by my mother AT the artist's production shop / gallery (believed) on Oahu in 1989 (they were also on a few of the other islands). She was on a 2 week vacation with a friend and my sister. I heard mostly about Waikiki beach & Honolulu. She also went back to Hawai'I in September 1996 . . . possibly acquired then. If only I had the purchase receipt and / or Certificate of Authenticity . The framing was done by Otsuka's shop. They match / identical. The horizontal is 'c1981 The Dance of the Twelve Kimonos by Otsuka' / "Published by Images International of Hawaii' / 'Printed by Tea Lautrec Litho,USA" 21 3/4" x 27 1/2" inside frame / 23" high x 29" long outside frame. NOT numbered. First original proof print? The Vertical is 'c1989 Otsuka. Published by Images International of Hawaii. '. Frame inside 21 3/8" x 29 3/4" / 22 7/8" x 30 7/8" outside frame. Also NOT numbered. Proof print? My understanding is it would be part of a set of three - RED elegance, WHITE - peace, & LAVENDER (BLUE?) - beauty. Correct? What I remember being told is the artist was there and they chatted a while. The two framed pieces were shipped by Otsuka's shop to Omaha Nebraska where they hung on her walls until her death in 2010. I do NOT have any original bill of sale - at the time I was told $3,000.00 (sorry, even with packing & air freight I couldn't see it). They have hung on my walls since. There is NO 6/25 etc. to mark it as a mass printing. I note the mass produced numbered ones are SMALLER than these by at least two inches on each dimension or substantially more - half size? The size measurements are the inside then outside of the frame. These are slightly bigger than the numbered ones. The stickies on the back I did. Just looked thru an online brokerage. Saw my prices a bit low . . . Since I am a 'motivated' seller I dropped the prices to under what that brokerage wanted. Additional hint . . . IF you want to buy these put a bid of $1,150.00 . . . don't do it as a lark it would be a binding bid! Will NOT split them up.
