Description: Theodore Roosevelt National Memorial Park North Dakota Badlands Postcard. President Truman established the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Memorial Park on April 25, 1947, the only National Memorial Park ever established; the North Unit was added by act of Congress in June 1948. In 1978, in addition to boundary adjustments and the establishment of 29,920 acres of the Theodore Roosevelt Wilderness, the park's designation was changed to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The park's larger South Unit lies alongside Interstate 94 near Medora, North Dakota. The smaller North Unit is situated about 80 mi north of the South Unit, on U.S. Route 85, just south of Watford City, North Dakota. Roosevelt's Elkhorn Ranch is located between the North and South units, approximately 20 mi west of US 85 and Fairfield, North Dakota. Curt Teich Co. 1898-1978 Chicago, IL 9DK-624 dated 1969: Curt Teich became an early publisher of postcards but did not begin printing them in number himself until 1908. Most of the company's postcards had white borders. The company employed offset printing beginning in 1907 and began producing linen postcards in the early 1930s. The Curt Teich Company employed various credit lines, including Curteich-Chicago, C. T. American Art, and C. T. Photochrome. After 1930 card numbers began with a number corresponding to the last digit of the year it was published in followed by a letter series denoting the decade. were issued with a K prefix designating them as modern chrome cards issued under the Curteichcolor name. Some of these cards date back into the 1950’s. The quality of these cards runs the gamut since it took some time to perfect the technique. Please review the photos carefully for condition and detail. Normal wear associated with an old postcard have creases, corner bumps, ink on the front etc.
