Description: This is a custom 12" figure of fictional western TV character, Trampas from the tv show "The Virginian". Doug McClure played the role of Trampas. The role of Trampas was the role most associated with Doug McClure and the role he is best known for. This tv series was loosely based on a novel written by Owen Wister of the same name. One significant change is that McClure's character is not the bad man as Trampas is portrayed in the Wister novel and "the Virginian" movies. The Virginian was the first western tv show to run for 90 minutes. The NBC series ran for 9 seasons, from 1962 to 1971. The Virginian was the third longest running western series behind Bonanza (14 seasons) and Gunsmoke (20 seasons). Doug McClure did a great job playing this character through the whole series. The only other character that was with the tv series through its entire run was James Drury who played the title role of The Virginian. The Virginian was a tough foreman for the Shiloh Ranch in Medicine Bow Wyoming. Trampas was his top hand. This was one of the coolest shows on tv when it was on with a lot of great stories and adventures. You can sometimes find this series on channels that run old television shows or channels that run old westerns. While this figure does not look exactly like the character or the actor, there is a bit of a resemblance. the six gun rig is custom made with a plastic marxman six-gun.
