Description: About This Item: Up for sale is a print, 'The Crossing Sweeper', of a mid-1800's painting by William Powell Frith (1858), not sure if engraver was R.A. This artwork depicts a familiar sight in large cities especially London, in the 1800's, where boys worked as crossing sweepers to assist a safe passage across busy and filthy streets. Opening in mat for print measures 11 inches by 8 1/2 inches. Print has some light brown spots, perhaps from aging, and some light wear and aging along the borders. Mat measures 16 1/2 inches by 14 inches, is a soft pale green and is in good to very good condition, with one corner, lower right, that is slightly crushed. Print is shifted slightly to the right within the mat. No glass or frame. Please review photos which are part of the item description, ask any questions and request additional photos as needed.
