Description: The insignia are in excellent minus condition with what appears to be original factory lacquer, nice shiny surface. The card is in fair condition with foxing and creasing. Rare original pair of USMC collar size Eagle Globe Anchor insignia. Screw back, never issued, on what appears to be an original manufacturer backing. The matched pair of insignia are mid to late WW2, “EconoLead” manufacture. This type of lead alloy cast insignia was made at the same time as the WW2 Bakelite insignia. Any USMC insignia found in cast lead, alloy materials (pot metal) or molded Bakelite can be considered WW2 manufacture (late 1943, on) because of the strategic ban on brass, bronze and copper for insignia manufacturing (these metals were strategic and needed for the war effort).
