Description: Up for bid is a very beautiful signed copy of a rare exhibition catalog by the acclaimed American artist NICK CAVE. The catalog was created in 2004 for the artist's exhibition entitled SOUNDSUITS, held at the Holter Museum (Helena, MT) from June 1-Sept 30, 2004. The run size for this 1st (and only) edition was quite small, and sold out very quickly. A very rare item that is further enhanced by the artist's signature in black ink. Signature is guaranteed to be authentic. Co-designed by the artist and his longtime partner Bob Faust. Published in 2004 by Faust Ltd (Chicago, IL). As taken from the Faust Ltd website... This catalog was produced to accompany Nick’s exhibition at the Holter Museum and sold out within the first few weeks of the opening. It also happens to be the first product produced by the team of Cave and Faust. It is an experiment in how a catalog can be delivered and how it might change over time. Having four different covers, four unbound signatures of content and a parchment poster bound only by an externally strapped rubber band, we set up a question. After years of viewing and reassembling the content, how might the page order and relationships between images might change and influence the user’s experience? This unique catalog design is unbound as issued. The contents are held together with an elastic H-band, and features two corrugated cardboard covers which are each printed with unique images on both sides, allowing the owner to swap out 4 different cover designs. Contents include the following: - 2 one-ply cardboard covers measuring 12.5" x 9.5" each. - a folded 24"x18" introductory page/poster, printed on parchment paper with an essay by the textile artist Karen Searle. - 4 individually numbered unbound booklets measuring 12"x 9" each. Booklets are printed on glossy paper and feature several color images throughout. Approximately 76 pages with 61 color illustrations in total. - 1 blue elastic H-style rubber band This copy is in excellent vintage condition. The corrugated boards are very clean, with no rips or tears. The orange signed board has some very light soiling as shown. The broadside poster has some very minor handling wear to the edges as shown (slides 8-11). A few pages from Booklet #1 has some corner bends to the upper right corner as shown (slides 17-19).
