Description: This Batik was handmade and hand printed by Swedish artist Heidi Lange. The artist grew up on the outskirts of Stockholm Sweden. This piece has some creasing and tack marks at the corners due to how it was previously displayed. I have no idea when this was done as most of her art depicts the Masai culture of Kenya, and I could not find any like this on the internet. Artist Biography: Heidi Lange is a Swedish textile artist whose work has been informed by a period spent in Kenya where she moved after her studies in art in Stockholm and Rome. Gleaning much of her inspiration from ancient batik techniques, her designs emphasize the link between the Indigenous peoples of Sweden and Kenya. She is the most famous Batik artist in Kanya, and many of her works depict the Masai culture or the Vikings in Lapland.
