Description: Houston Llew Spiritiles #020Tend HerRetired! A lovely retired floral design by Houston Llew featuring a pretty orchid! This was part of the Spring 2009 release on January 5, 2009 and was retired July 1, 2013. From the artist: Even when the sun goes away for the day, the flower knows it will return. There is no worry in nature that the sun will not rise. It does when it does. In the meantime, the flower holds to the memory of light when the sun sets, and waits to be reunited.It features a most perfect quote:"Deep in their roots all flowers keep the light." - Theodore Roethke From the estate of a collector, this Spiritile is in gently pre-owned condition. Displayed minimally if at all (the back is nearly pristine). Keep in mind that this is an early Spiritile and the manufacturing process has changed a bit over the years. The copper wrap is a bit more narrow on the back. As is usual with older Spiritiles, it has started to lift just slightly along some back edges as the wood block has aged (not enough to re-glue at this point). Crazing and lighter areas are smooth and part of the original production and are not flaws. Spiritiles are molten glass on copper; darkening/patination of the copper in the intentional crazing areas may be expected as part of the artisan process as seen in this piece.Please see photos as they are of the actual item you will receive from many different angles!
