It is a gorgeous piece and was manufactured in the United States during the Art Deco era (1915-1935). This is a must-have for any collector of antique jewelry. This piece is in wonderful condition and very well made. The rhinestone sparkly stones make this a lovely Art Deco work or art which adds to the beauty of this pin/dress clip piece. This piece it seems was designed by Adolf Katz for Coro and on the back of this piece there are patent numbers, one of which is 1798867 which was patented March 31, 1931 and on the top is stamped ‘Coro Duette’. This can be worn as a brooch, or by plying the corners of the inner piece can be removed and worn as a pair of matching dress clips. Measurement: 3.25” x 1.5” 70 mm's in length by 33 mm's in width. Some of the most sought after pieces today are the Coro pieces, especially these Duette's. This company started producing the formal dress clip Duette starting in the early 1930’s. Among the most collectible vintage Coro pieces today are the Coro Duettes from 1931 to the 1950’s. The Duette utilized a frame based on one designed by Cartier in 1927. Like the Cartier frame, the Coro version had two openings in it, one for each pin. Pins could be attached to the frame to be worn as a set, or detached to be worn individually or as a matched set of dress clips. Consider wearing them on a dress, blazer, jacket, coat, purse, sweater, tunic, hat, scarf, boots, or whatever your imagination suggests. It functions perfectly from brooch to clip, and displays the traditional classic aspect of a bygone time, and epitomizes the elegance of the era. Great gift, perhaps even better to keep!
