Description: Pretty Polly is a 1938 vintage Barclay Grubb print. It is 6.25” x 8.25” in overall size and is in excellent condition. The artist Barclay Grubb was actually a pseudonym used by Bradshaw Crandell (1896–1966), an American artist renowned for his glamorous pin-up art during the mid-20th century. Crandell was especially well-known for his portraits of women, which combined elements of sophistication and allure. His works were frequently featured in magazines, calendars, and posters and were popular in the 1930s and 1940s, exemplifying the "cheesecake" pin-up style. One of his well-known pieces under the Barclay Grubb name is the "Pretty Polly" print from 1938, a classic example of Crandell’s style, which highlights both the elegance and the fashionable appeal of the era. Crandell's art often depicted women in glamorous or dramatic poses, reflecting both Hollywood-style glamour and the aesthetics of Art Deco and early 20th-century advertising Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Chuck amassed a collection of well over 10,000 framed and unframed prints before his death. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
