Description: While this book is a bit worn, it is full of tales, photos and facts about Texas history around the Staked Plains, Caprock and Rolling Plains areas, as well as other regions and states. Lampasas, Sweetwater, Snyder, Clairmont cities and Callahan, Dawson, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Scurry and Kent counties are a few places mentioned and where a lot of the gun-fighting went on. Bob Terry of Roby, Texas is given special acknowledgment. It's fun to read this while using The Portal to Texas History as a companion guide. There are articles in the newspaper archives about events depicted in the book. I first read about the circumstances in "Shootout in Sweetwater" in a few of the October 2, 1917 editions. Abilene has a good one. It’s a first edition from Eakin Press in Austin. Water damage and curling shown in photos. Pages are tight, no writing on them.
