Past Patterns 0305 - 1930s Wedding Gown & Slip Sewing Pattern bust sizes 33"-38"

Description: Past Patterns PP#03051930s Wedding Gown and Slip Sewing Pattern This Early 1930s Wedding Gown sewing pattern is a Past Patterns original design ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This wedding gown is easy and fast to make. The wedding gown we copied for this pattern had single seams throughout. Because today’s fabrics might ravel we recommend French seams or mock French seams. We think French seams or mock French seams would demonstrate a more "finished" garment if used in the bodice back midriff and on the sides. The bright, white silk organza wedding gown that was our model for this pattern was worn with a white bias cut rayon slip. The center front of the dress is cut on the bias. Bias grain has bounce, swing and stretch. The lower edge of the flounce had an uneven hemline and fell into two “tails” front and back. The uneven hemline was typical of the 1920s and 1930s. The makers of this garment are reminded that the bias cut of the flounce stretches over time. A cutting for an even hemline is included in the pattern. Think about creating this garment in a black silk organza, with a black silk slip for smashing evening attire. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This pattern is Multi-sized with the following pattern sizes included: Size 10 Bust 33 1/2” Waist 25 1/2” Hips 35 ½” Back Length 15 3/4” Size 12 Bust 35” Waist 27” Hips 37” Back Length 16” Size 14 Bust 36 1/2” Waist 28 1/2” Hips 38 ½” Back Length 16 1/2” Size 18 Bust 38” Waist 30” Hips 40” Back Length 16 1/2” ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fabric Requirements (all measurements using 45”) Gown Sizes 10-12 5 Yds Sizes 14-16 5 ¼ Yds Slip Sizes 10-12 2 3/8 Yds Sizes 14-16 2 ½ Yds ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Suggested Fabrics For a period-correct 1930s Wedding Gown use fabrics like silk organza, Voile, China Silk, Leight weight silk taffeta. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 0305 Thanks for looking!
