Original Southern 1910 Panoramic Postcard Country Club Charleston SC

Description: * * * * ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH, NOT A REPRODUCTION * * * * For sale is an original panoramic black and white photograph postcard depicting Hole No. 4 of The Country Club in Charleston South Carolina circa 1910. This un-posted 11" by 3-1/2" postcard has been professionally uncurled, unfolded, flattened and mounted on acid-free museum board 14" by 6-1/2". Suitable and ready for framing. Photo published by Haines Photo Co., Conneaut, Ohio. The predecessor clubs to the Country Club of Charleston took shape in 1900 along the Cooper River, before relocating down river to Belvidere Plantation the following year. By 1922, the Club had acquired its present location on the McLeod Plantation consisting of 900 acres on the Ashley River. It is my belief this photo depicts the Club when located on the Belvidere Plantation, with the main house shown in the right-hand side of the image. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Preservation Society of Charleston has this same postcard displayed online dated 1910 and entitled the Belvidere Golf Links 1902 - 1925. Condition overall okay; some wear and damage to this 100 year old paper artifact, mostly around the edges. Paper may appear aged; however, the image and text is legible. NOTE: the last image is a photo taken of the reverse side of the postcard before it was mounted to the museum board. A copy of this will be sent along with the postcard.
