He was an Italian immigrant and an early electric tattooer from Dallas, Texas. He was also a tattooed attraction for the Ringling circus; this is where he met his wife, Mary Alice Wade, when she joined the Ringling Brothers shortly after World War I. Known as "Alice from Dallas," she was a sideshow fat lady who also worked on The Pike in that role when Julian worked on The Pike as a tattooer and tattooed attraction.
