Brightly lit by sun, the San Marco Cathedral is floating above a motley dense crowd of tourists that flood San Marco square by mid day. San Marco Cathedral comes in all its glory, with gold gilded frescoes and mosaics shining in the sun, contrasting with the deep shades of the archways and passages. The painting is executed in an academic realistic style. One gets a feeling of the summer heat from the warm square stones and at the same time a freshness of the close proximity of the sea, projected by the clear blue sky. The painting is strikingly realistic and very balanced. The 10 X 5" oil on canvas painting is framed, measuring 18 X 13" with frame.
