Description: Handsome copperplate engraved map of Lombardy and vicinity, centered on the fortified city of Milan, in original hand color, published by Johann Baptist Homann circa 1720. The map is titled Belli Typus In Italia vicricis Aquilae progressus In Statu Mediolanensi Et Ducatu Mantuae... in a decorative cartouche with figural references to Mantua, Cremona, and Milan where battles were fought in 1702 during the War of the Spanish Succession. The coverage area spans part of northwestern Italy, including Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore, Lago di Lugano, Milan (Milano), Genoa, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Verona, Trento, Pavia, and Lake Garda (Lago di Garda). The image area measures 47 x 55.2 cm [18½" x 21¾"] on a larger sheet, with vertical center fold, as issued. Condition: This map is in very good condition, with no rips or tears. There are small stains in the upper corners, where a previous owner had used a plastic tape to mount the map. Please see the scans, which include front and back views of the entire sheet, and feel free to ask any questions. This is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It was published in Nuremberg, circa 1720. Buy with confidence!
