Used by civil war officers and soldiers to mix shaving soap/cream for shaving, with the side compartment to hold it. It stands about 4 1/4" tall x 5" wide, and a 3" diameter body. Has the original side handle. A great looking soldier's personal/campground item for any Civil War collection. In excellent condition, with nice patina.
