Description: Napoleonic Wars French Model 1822 Cavalry Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked with an "L" in a circle. The side of the knuckleguard has a "2039" and a couple illegible marks. The underside of the guard has more illegible marks. The quillback spine has French script including "Klingenthal" and "1819". The grip, guard and pommel are tight. The grip leather is mostly gone. The twisted wire wrap is also mostly gone. The blade is straight, unsharpened, no nicks, and has age spots scattered throughout. The scabbard is solid with a few anti-rattle dents on the drag area, darkened patina with light pitting throughout, the hanger mount has faint numbers that are illegible, and there is a bend about 3 1/2" up from the tip of the drag (it doesn't affect the on/off). Washer is missing. Length of the blade is 36 5/16" (1 3/16" wide and 3/8" thick), the sword is 42 1/8", and in the scabbard it is 43 1/4". Check out my other War Items!
