The back panel has shuttered apertures and engraved directions for the handset and winding, a steel slide for the strike/silent and a fast/slow scale and slide to adjust the rate.Dial:The finely engraved silvered dial has Roman numerals for the hours, steel-cut hands and is signed ‘James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, 2047’. The same maker information is inscribed on the backside of the dial along with layout lines for the chapter rings.Movement:The high-quality eight-day twin fusee movement is wound and set off the backplate, strikes the hours on a large gong, has a repeat button through the top viewing glass and retains the original balance platform. It is engraved on the backplate ‘James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, 2047’.Notes:It retains the original carrying case and numbered key. On the bottom of the box are 2 labels from where it was serviced at the turn of the century.
