Description: Scottish Rite 33rd Degree Solid 18K Yellow Gold Masonic Jewel Dated May 17, 1867 W/Enamel Details. This 33rd degree Masonic jewel would make a great addition to any collection of fraternal memorabilia. The jewel is presented on a purple-colored ribbon, and is solid 18k yellow gold. The piece is composed of a Knights of Kadosh Cross outlined in red enamel and mounted on crossed swords and a multi-pointed star, with the outer ring in the form of a serpent. The center of the badge showcases the Scottish Rite double-headed eagle on a blue-enameled shield adorned with the Scales of Justice and the iconic Blue Lodge Square and Compass. A blue-enameled ring around the perimeter bears the Latin motto "Ordo Ab Chao" in gold lettering, and black-enameled triangles around the center display the letters "SAPIENTIA". The ribbon includes two gold bars, one which holds the medal and one which is finished with a straight pin. The back of the medal has been engraved "Rev. Jeremy Clarke Hagey 33ΓΈ Active Member of the Supreme Council Nor Mas Jur May 17th, 1867." This jewel is given to the highest level freemasons in the supreme council trusted with the grand secret. This piece marked the union of the Van Rensselaer Supreme Council and the Hays-Raymond-Robinson Supreme Council. The merger resulted in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction as it exists today. A similar jewel to this piece was exhibited in the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library. The medal weighs 39.7 grams and will come housed in the original leather storage casket. Will be shipped overnight and fully insured. Please note: there is significant fraying in the ribbon. The medal itself is in excellent condition, with no damage to the enamel.
