Description: KAO MF2ED 2.88MB / 4MB 3.5" DISC NOW THE LAST FEW OF THIS RARE ITEM These are top quality branded new and unused 3.5" Double Sided Extra Density floppy disks. Manufactured by KAO as their model MF2ED, the unformatted capacity is 4Mb and formatted is 2.88Mb. Very rare now, the 2.88Mb Extra Density floppy will only work in compatible floppy drives, they differ in many ways from the ultra common 1.44Mb disk that was everywhere, the media coating is of a much higher grade and the media identifier hole on the right side of the disk is in a different position. They were used by GPT Plessey/Siemens in some ISDX exchange models; IBM in some PS/2 and Thinkpad models, the NeXT Cube and NeXTstation by Apple and were also used in industrial computers by NCR, DEC, Toshiba as well as some Cisco equipment. Possibly already one for the collectors and a future technological antiquity ! WILL ONLY WORK IN 2.88Mb DRIVES Priced and supplied individually.
