Description: Stunning antique Victorian pickle castor in gorgeous blue glass with a wonderful gold flower and leaf design, plus accents at the top and bottom of the glass insert. The blue glass has an inverted coin spot pattern. The gold and blue set a striking visual effect, especially against the silver-plated stand. The stand is made by James W. Tufts Co of Boston, Mass. James Walker Tufts was born in 1835 and died in 1902. He is known for founding the town of Pinehurst, NC, founding the Arctic Soda Fountain Co. and for his silver-plating business. His work is featured in museums around the world. The stand is stamped on the underside with "Plate Guaranteed" "James W. Tufts, Boston" The maker's mark and model number #3615. Very good condition - Some expected tarnish to metal surfaces and light wear to the painted scene. The stand is almost 11 inches tall. This will make a great addition to any collection.
