Description: Hard to Find Antique Homer Laughlin Large 12" Cable Line WHITE Ironstone Water Pitcher / Mouth Ewer circa early 1900s. Hard to find Early 1900s Antique Homer Laughlin Cable Line White Ironstone Water Pitcher - part of HLC's early Toilet Ware lines. This piece is on a beautiful white body. Could also be used as a great Farmhouse Planter or Decor - beautiful antique piece! Love the plain crisp white farm house look! Approximately 12" tall and 8" wide at widest point Cable was made by Homer Laughlin from their earliest days in the 1870s until 1946. The line was named after the transatlantic telegraph cable. Many potteries in the United States and England had their own lines of Cable. There are subtle differences between the different maker's versions, but one constant is the use of cable embossing on handles, finials, and some trim. Anything with a handle (sugar, sauceboat, jugs, teapot, etc) was given rather ornate cable embossing that was simplified over time. Since Cable was made for almost seventy-five years, it can be found with several different backstamps. Anything with a "Laughlin Brothers" mark comes from the 1870s. "Premium Stone China" marks are from the 1880s. The eagle over lion with Laughlin written out in cursive dates from the 1890s to circa 1905. Many of the pieces that were made after 1911 have a date code (like this one which is from 1911!) We have lots of Antique Homer Laughlin Pieces (as well as other very rare items) in the store! Has a factory mold flaw near the rim on the outside of the piece and some factory mold flaws on the bottom dry foot - common with factory production. Displays excellently. Other small factory imperfections possible on this piece from factory production such as sand bumps, glaze pops, glaze misses, etc. Little issues on this piece, beautiful condition overall.
