Description: Good morning from Congers, NY. Just purchased this box from a local estate. It is a beautiful example of the art of the enameler. Thank you for looking in and happy eBaying!Sterling silver and enamel box by Hilda Kraus (1915-2014). The box is triangular, and is 1 9/16" widest x just over 1" tall. The enamel decoration of stars and planets (?) feels very Matisse to me. The enamel colors here are very jewel like, from the center yellow star, to the deep blue outer space background, to the lighter contrasting blue orbs. Particularly wonderful are the two small garnet colored little dots. The box is signed twice. The underside of the enamel lid is signed "Hilda Kraus / Sterling", bottom of the box signed "Hilda Kraus/ Sterling". Unsure of the age, but based on a similar box I've seen from her works, C. 1960's.No chips, cracks or other damage to the enamel.
