Description: Not sure just what the dog is guarding, something inside or the morsel in front of him; but this is a fabulous piece of Southern Outsider Folk Art - I am not sure who "Penny" is - she might have been a student at the Bascom Art Center in Highlands, because there is where I bought the piece* - The lid is a truly frightening beast fashioned in the manner of a spaghetti dog - all hand-built - the bottom is thrown on a wheel and has a crack - so, no liquids, but possibly dog treats??Buy this for your collection of whimsical pottery, and you will have the only one of it's kind, promise!Thee whole piece is roughly 8.5" tall and it is 6.5" across; very heavy - expensive to ship* in Highlands, not at the Bascom
