H K Porter, Co. Light Locomotives "Compressed Air Haulage" 1909 Franklin Library

Description: as stated above, under "Condition":This is a good used copy of a book that served, in part, as a catalog for H.K. Porter Co.'s light locomotives already in production. The Company saw the benefits of building locomotives propelled by compressed air for use in hauling. They had already built machinery to most efficiently handle the task. This booklet has no date indicating its publication that we could find, but on the front fly page, in the upper right corner s the date of August 3, 1909. We have taken that as the "publication date ." Note, also, that the book was given to the Franklin Institute Library in Philadelphia by the H. K. Porter Co. itself, a fellow institution housed in the city of Philadelphia. The pages and cloth cover of this pamphlet show wear but are in very good condition. In these days when climate change has wrought such destruction we can look back and see how the use of fossil fuels might easily have been greatly avoided had these alternate fuels been adopted.
