Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely vintage S. Kirk & Son Sterling Silver asparagus fork with beautiful repousse floral design. Measure 8 5/8" long with the bowl being and 2 1/2" wide. Weighs 110 grams. This lovely fork is decorated with an elegant all-over chased floral design on handle and stem in high relief. Has fancy engraved monogram "G. M. D" on reverse side of handle, design on front side only. The silver is in excellent condition with no damage or noted flaws. Marked "S. Kirk & Son Inc." and "Sterling" on reverse stem. The iconic "Repousse" pattern by S. Kirk & Son made its debut in 1828 making it the oldest Sterling Silver pattern produced in the United States where its remained to this day as one of the most popular patterns ever created. To create this pattern, the Philadelphia trained silversmith Samuel Kirk revived an ancient technique known as "repousse" to create an embossed design that is both versatile and instantly recognized.
