Description: Gordon & Sammis were the principals of an importing tailor business that produced high end clothing using principally European fabrics. The face contains a vignette of an allegorical woman with an eagle under a banner with the “SELDOM EQUALLED NEVER EXCELLED” motto on it. This is flanked by vignettes of agriculture at left and a warship under sail at right. The back contains information on the firm, its products, and the redemption process. This is only the second piece I’ve seen from this issuer and by far the nicest. PMG mentions that it was previously mounted and that it has an annotation.
