Description: Mixed precious metal ore from the 1800s Or Knob Copper Mine, Ashe County, North Carolina. Very high readings metal detected with obvious gold spots in the platinum and silver ore, very slight magnetic pull only with a very strong magnet (does not stick) and rainbow iridescent quality suggests some copper combined in the ore. Tarnishes somewhat quicky due to the high silver content. Gold spots and streaks is seen consistently scattered through the slabs of this ore. Cut slab from a larger specimen that has been hand polished and it is not sealed. Uncoated natural with visible high-grade gold. Heavy for its size, approximately 1 1/2 lbs. 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" x 13/16". Measurements from the longest points.
