The famous design features the marking of the gathering celebrating the formation of the unified Reich at the White Hall in Berlin Palace (Berliner Schloss), flanked by the legend "Ein Reich, ein Volk, ein Gott" and "Reichspost". This is the rare variant A I a, which shows as yellowish-red under UV light. In mint hinged condition with good centering, bright colour and clean perfs. Cancelled with multiple circular postmarks dated 7th September 1909 in the city of Stuttgart. This excellent example has been deeply expertised, with two signed cachets from Jäschke BPP.
