Description: For your consideration is a French Yataghan Sword Bayonet manufactured for the M1866 Chassepot Needle Fire Rifle. The sword with scabbard is 28” long. The bayonet only is 27.5”. The scabbard only is 23.125” long. The bayonet and scabbard have matching serial numbers – AB-37647. The spine is marked M re d’ Armes de Chat – 4 Juillet 1873 (July 4, 1873). The condition is very nice. Both bayonet and scabbard are solid. The press stud works. The blade is tarnished. The scabbard has scratches and a few tiny dents. This is a great piece to be over 140 years old.
