Description: This is a wonderful impressive FRANZ BERGMAN Austrian Cold Painted Bronze of an Arab lady serving tea, which dates to circa 1900. The bronze depicts an Arab lady standing on an intricate design carpet holding a tray with cups on, serving tea. The detailing to the bronze is incredible as can be seen from the photographs. The underside of the carpet is impressed with the Bergman foundry stamp which is a capital 'B' inside in a twin handled vase. Franz Xavier Bergman (Austrian, 1861 ~ 1936) Franz Bergman senior was born in Gablonz, Northern Bohemia where he worked as a metalwork chaser and finisher. He came to Vienna where he founded a small bronze factory in 1860. His son, Franz Xavier Bergman, opened a new foundry at the turn of the Century. The most famous of the Viennese ‘cold painted bronze’ artists Franz Bergman is recognized for great attention to detail and wonderful vibrant colours works from the Bergman foundry are highly prized today by collectors worldwide. The approximate dimensions are : 9 inches / 22.5 cm high x 4 3/54 inches / 12 cm wide across carpet x 6 3/4 inches / 17 cm deep across the carpet.
