More about these stamps: On April 10, 2000, the United States Postal Service issued a pane of five 33 cent stamps as a tribute to Edwin Powell Hubble, an eminent American astronomer. The images on the stamps include the Eagle Nebula, the Ring Nebula, the Lagoon Nebula, the Egg Nebula, and Galaxy NGC 1316. These photos were taken from the Hubble Space Telescope which began operating in April 1990. A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. This stamp strip has been designated as Scott Number 3388a.
