But it does play exceptionally well and is a bold Italian sound with a soloist quality but can also blend in with an ensemble extremely versatile set up with a new Despiau 3 tree French bridge. Bought in Turin by myself from a gentlemen whom claimed it was his fathers and he was the only other owner of the violin and gave me the accompanying paperwork. Plays very nicely deep and rich G and D even in the high positions no noticeable wolf tones on high G past A. The A and E are very lovely silvery in quality and project nicely very easy to play. No major cracks just the aforementioned old repairs. Varnish is a deep red with light undercoats and ware patterns in the typical places of a fiddle over a century old it is presumed.
