I've had this book for decades, and it was well-cared for, stored away virtually undisturbed in all that time. Before offering it for sale, I carefully took the time to eyeball each page to make sure there was nothing obvious hiding in there that might otherwise be missed. Here is the generally-accepted description of a FN comic book (as you can find on multiple online grading websites): FINE (FN): An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose. (I include this description so you can refer to it while following along with my observations below.) Surfaceflat, still with some shine, and wonderfully smooth (though not like glass or anything)Edge Wearas you can see against that all-black background, the edge wear all easily falls into the "minor" category. (I'll document the back cover below)Folds/Creasesnone noted, except for the very tip (and I mean like the last millimeter) of the lower-right on the cover (visible in photos)Wrinklingthere doesn't appear to be much of any at all -- this copy is very smooth!Cornersmostly sharp with only ever-so-slight bluntingPrinting DefectsnoneArrival StampsnoneSpinebook seems to have been gently read through before, but as you can see in the close-up, in-your-face side photos I provided, the solid black line that runs down its length is hardly broken, so any wear you find here is very slight, and as for color-breaks or spine ticks, this spine would compare favorably with most VF copies you encounter. Except take note here -- at some point in the book's past, someone added an additional staple and then later apparently changed their mind and removed it. All that's left now are the two little holes (which are more easily seen from the back side). This is odd because the cover and all pages are all nicely attached and are in no danger at all of coming loose, and there are no splits which it would have supposedly have repaired, so I guess they must have realized this too and removed it. Anyway, as my job here is to be thorough, I'm pointing it out -- it did not affect the book at all as I paged through it -- I simply noticed it.Spine Rollabsolutely noneTears/SplitsnoneStaplesnot discolored or rusty -- both look good and go all the way through to the centerfold.Back coversomewhat faded and not as white as it must have been all those decades ago. I also note a couple of very light scuffs, one in the upper-left edge and another on top near the upper-right corner area. They're barely visible in the photos because you have to kind of hold the book up to the light to see them.Smudgesholding the book up to the light, I see none on the front. On the back, there are some on the right area, near the spine, about where you figure someone would have held the book while reading. Many are too faint to make out in the photos, but a couple are visible.Surface build-upa light coating, mostly right along spine. I note no foxing.Inner coverssome light some Silver Age tanning, but clean.Page coloroff-white, even leaning toward white here or therePage conditionexcellent with no sign of brittleness; everything seems well attachedBOTTOM LINEThis easily satisfies the various criteria laid out in the description above and exceeds them in so many areas that it's clear the book is better than straight-up mid-grade, with some smudging on the back. I might have gone to FN/VF instead then had it not been for the extra staple that it once had. It's a fine specimen no matter where you ultimately land though, so if you're looking for an upper-mid-grade copy, you should absolutely consider this one! Where do you get more details or camera angles than what I've provided? ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE! Look at my feedback and you'll see "item as described" posted over and over again! I cannot believe other sellers expect you to make a purchase decision with just one or two photos -- ridiculous -- you always see what you're getting from me!
