Description: I am offering for sale an original early 19th Century French epee court sword dating to the Bourbon Restoration (1814-1830) with a bronze handle, checkered onyx grip and triangular blade. The bronze shell guard features carved motifs of a Roman helmet, sword and fasces. This sword is a variation of the models shown in the definitive French sword guide, Les Epees Portees En France des Origines a Nos Jours, by Jean Lhoste at pages 408 through 424 and is virtually identical to the Restoration Era Epee d'Officier d'Aide d'Camp shown in figure 783 on Page 414. The makers mark appears on the back of the sword at the top of the blade as you can see in the closeup photo. It is in very good condition with age appropriate patina on the blade. It measures 35 1/8" long.
