Description: These are Dutch Red Shallots multiplying onions they multiply just like potatoes. As you can see from pictures 1 bulb can become 5 or more and this variety gets as big as 1 inch if divided regularly. If you never want to buy onion sets again this is the onion for you. This variety is a very tasty and not as pungent as standard onions and do not get planted like standard onions they get planted in August and will start developing roots prior to winter and will overwinter in the ground in Iowa or colder and start growing bigger and developing daughter onions next year you can store these for 6 months or more inside if divided once a year. I bought 2lbs 2 years ago and now have more than 20+ lbs in rotation. This is a great strong grower just replant smaller onions and enjoy larger ones. These are usually $12 / lb plus shipping online.
