Al Kaline: First Ballot election to the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980. 10 time gold glove winner, 18 time All-Star and one of the all time greats on and off the field! George "Sparky" Anderson: Elected to the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. Anderson was famous for managing the Cincinnati "Big Red Machine" of the 1970's. However, Anderson won more games as the manager of the Tigers, he won 1331 games as manager of the Tigers and only 863 games managing the Reds! At the time of his retirement Anderson had the 3rd most wins of any MLB manager and was the first manager to win a World Series as manager of both NL and AL teams. Kirk Gibson: Clinched the 1984 World Series with a home run off Hall of Fame reliever, Goose Gossage. In 1988 Gibson hit a pinch hit home run off Dennis Eckersley to win the game for the Dodgers. Gibson was a 2 time All Star, ALCS and league MVP. A fierce competitor, Gibson was an all american wide receiver at Michigan State University and brought the football mentality and intensity to the baseball diamond. Mark "The Bird" Fidrych: 1976 Rookie of the Year and 1976 MLB Man of the Year he was a sensation and great for the game! Who could ever forget some of his routine on the mound (like talking to the ball and playing "grounds keeper")! He was an absolute joy to watch pitch! Willie Hernandez: Clinched the 1984 World Series with a 8th and 9th inning save. In 1984, Hernandez became only the third player ever to win the Cy Young, MVP and World Series title, all in the same season (the great Sandy Koufax was the first). Jack Morris: Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018 along with former teammate Alan Trammell. Morris was a 5 time all star, World Series MVP and 4 time World series champion. During his distinguished career, Morris authored a no hitter, won 254 games and had almost 2,500 strikeouts. Morris had the most wins of any pitcher in the 1980's. In 1991 Morris pitched a 10 inning complete game to beat the Braves in game 7 of the World Series. Alan Trammell: Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018 along with former teammate Jack Morris. Trammell won 4 gold gloves and teamed with Lou Whitaker to be the longest continuous middle infield combination for 19 years! Trammell also won the 1984 World Series MVP. "Sweet Low" Whitaker: He was the American League rookie of the year i 1978. Whitaker won 3 gold gloves and was named to 5 all star games. he amassed almost 2400 hits and almost 250 HR enroute to winning the silver slugger 4 times. For 19 years he teamed with Hall of Famer Alan Trammell to become the longest continuous middle infield combination in MLB history! Whitaker might be one of the most under rated players of his generation! Because I have a few of these lots, the cards shown in the scans are examples of my card quality and not necessarily the cards you will receive. All the cards you will receive will be in Near Mint (NM) condition or better (many are NMMT)! As was the case in those days, some cards may be off center but none will be miscut, meaning none of the inner frame of the photo will touch the card edge. During the mid-80's I started attending card shows to buy, sell and trade. From the mid-90s until about 2013 my personal interest in the hobby was put on hold as raising a family and my career to support my family were the priority. Currently, I have raw and graded baseball cards available dating back to the late 50's and raw football, basketball and hockey from the early to mid-70's in varying condition. My 'inventory' also includes unopened wax, cello and racks.
