Description: Dugan Coin Spot Marigold Compote 1910 Antique Dugan Glass Coin Spot Approximately 4.5" (H) x 5.5" (D)" Marigold Carnival Glass Compote circa 1910 This ruffled, marigold carnival glass compote features the charming "Coin Spot" exterior pattern with its stippled columns. This beautiful compote was made by the Dugan Glass Company of Indiana, Pennsylvania, ca 1910. Very Brief History on Dugan Glass Thomas Dugan and his cousin Harry Northwood started out as employees at the Hobbs-Brockunier firm in Wheeling, West Virginia. Eventually, Harry would form the Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia and Thomas would form the Dugan Glass Company of Indiana, Pennsylvania. Both companies were kingpins of the carnival and opalescent glass market in the early 1900's and both closed their doors in the mid-1920s. Condition: This piece is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. The iridescence is nicely applied and colorful. The pattern is sharp and well-articulated. This is a very nice antique piece of historical glass. It is a pretty find and would make a nice gift. Payment is due within 3 days of auction or store close.
