Xerographic pages (terrible photos). .A new cathedral replacing Saint Vibiana which was severely damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. Construction began in 1998, but first an archeaologist had to study the site (required by CEQA). No problems were found, but the report issued here is excellent background on pre-history and historical circumstances of the specific site of the new Cathedral. .
