Description: This circa 1910s token valued at 50¢ is from the T. A. Gray & Company (general store) in Garfield, Kentucky (tiny community southwest of Louisville). [NOTE: In 1919, this business was sold to S. M. Haynes, dating this token to an earlier year.] The obverse has the name of the business and town, and the reverse has the words GOOD FOR 50 IN MERCHANDISE. There is a small die clip over the word GOOD. The diameter is approximately 28 mm (1-1/8"), and the composition is brass with a gilt surface treatment (partially remaining on both sides, not evident in photos). [9324S]This token is in extremely fine condition, with very light actual wear, toning, and some soiling, and the token remains bright, partially with a good gold color. The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item that is being offered for sale, serving as part of the description. NOTE: The actual token has more detail, is lighter in color (with some good gold color on both sides), and is brighter than in the photos. Also, the reddish areas in the photos are light brownish toning on the actual token. Payment must be received within ten days of close of auction. Shipping (First Class Mail), $1.50 in the U. S.
